An underwriting spot is an announcement made on a public broadcasting station (PBS) in exchange for funding. These spots usually mention the name of the sponsor and can resemble traditional television advertisements in commercial broadcasting, but the broadcasting license prohibits this station from making product claims and publishing pricing or incentives to buy a product or service.
